Position: Procurement Advisor

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation Details:

  • Procurement 17: Salaries typically range from $84,698 to $112,931 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of two in-office days per week, increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change).
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:

EDC’s Procurement Team enables our client’s decision-making by providing expertise and advisory services in contracting, sourcing and procurement processes. The team is responsible for safeguarding the reputation of EDC’s procurement practices while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

What you will be doing:

  • Process requisitions and purchase orders for various commodities.
  • Lead end-to-end competitive procurement activities, including the facilitation, development, and modification of RFQs, RFTs, RFIs, and RFPs, ensuring risk mitigation and adherence to EDC’s standards.
  • Develop, negotiate, and administer contract terms; evaluate bids and ensure compliance with company policies and trade agreement obligations.
  • Review purchase order claims, address delivery issues, and negotiate refunds or amendments to contracts as needed.
  • Advise internal clients on procurement procedures, regulations, and industry best practices, providing cost-benefit analysis and ensuring balanced opportunity and accountability.
  • Maintain complete and efficient procurement records, ensuring proper documentation for audit and compliance with information management standards.
  • Research new products, services, and suppliers, making recommendations for potential opportunities.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives and projects

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or another related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in a Procurement environment with 3 years’ experience guiding formal competitive procurement processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of complex contracts, commercial contracts, and competitive procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of the procurement industry and procurement best practices.
  • Strong written, presentation and spoken communication skills preferably in both official languages.

What will make you stand out:

  • Progression towards professional certification (Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA))
  • Knowledge of Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) and the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the ability to apply the elements of this agreement to all parts of the procurement process
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with federal government procurement tools, including supply arrangements and standing offers for goods and services.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Shared Services Canada (SSC) tools.
  • Proficiency with P2P, Agiloft and PeopleSoft Financials applications
