About this role

The Mission

LENS exists to end traffic accidents. We partner with Public Safety Agencies to detect pre-accident conditions — disabled vehicles, road debris, pedestrians on freeways — so officers can intervene before a collision occurs. Every feature we ship, every agent we deploy, every line of code we write is measured by one thing: can it prevent an accident and save a life?

The Role

We are looking for software engineers that are excited to contribute to our mission in a novel position, made possible by the recent advances in AI.

As an Agent Engineer & Supervisor (AE&S), you build software by utilizing agentic systems. You design, deploy, and supervise teams of agents — coordinated systems that execute large, multi-week scopes of work with real outcomes. You think in architectures: when to use tight iterative loops with frequent feedback, and when to delegate long-running autonomous tasks. You define effective reward and penalty functions that continuously steer agent behavior toward impact.

You are AI-native. Systems-thinking isn’t a framework you apply — it’s how you see. You naturally think end-to-end: directory structures, dependencies, failure modes, and how a decision made at the design stage echoes through every downstream outcome.

You’ve already run experiments that showed 100x–1000x acceleration of work is possible. And you suspect that may just be the beginning.

At LENS, your contributions will have a direct impact: the faster agent teams advance and scale our Specific AI model and the LENS API Platform, the faster Public Safety Agencies can deploy LENS, and the more accidents get prevented.

What You’ll Own

  • Design and build agent teams — not individual agents, but coordinated multi-agent systems with supervisor layers that you then oversee;

  • Define and execute large project scopes — structuring work at the multi-day and multi-week level with clear, delegatable blocks (with Ralph Wiggum pattern clarity);

  • Iterate relentlessly on outcomes — revising agent team behavior, reward functions, and architectures to drive continuously higher impact.

Who You Are

You don’t accept that traffic accidents are inevitable. You believe that when the root cause of an accident can be known in advance, it can — and should — be prevented. That belief isn’t abstract for you. It’s what makes your work feel urgent.

You move between imagination and precision with ease. You can see the vast possibility of what agent teams could accomplish, and then actually execute it. You are energized by the fact that every system you build ultimately points toward fewer traffic accidents and more lives saved.

LENS Values & Principles

We operate by five values:

  • focus on mission impact

  • elevate each other to our highest ability

  • think systems end-to-end

  • build strong foundations

  • be present to realize our full potential

Our principles are the common set of beliefs we accept and hold to be true for LENS. The LENS team imagines, designs, and operates with a clear set of values and principles — enabling us to hopefully make an outsized impact on our mission to end traffic accidents.
