Breedon Airfields specialises in laying asphalt, of all types, on airfields throughout Great Britain. As part of the Technical Team, reporting to the Technical Manager, the role will be responsible for ensuring asphalt, both in terms of material and laying quality, meets specification and performance requirements, working in our mobile UKAS accredited laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Sampling and testing of asphalt materials for mix properties and adherence to specifications, at our supply units and on airfield project sites.
- Carry out pavement quality testing and monitoring on site in accordance with job specifications for a variety of different asphalt materials.
- Record and report against the specification quality requirements for laying of asphalt materials.
- Carry out UKAS laboratory testing on asphalt and aggregate materials at our supply unit laboratories and on-site laboratories.
- Organise, and liaise with in-house technicians and third-party suppliers of technical services to assist with workload.
- Responsible for adhering to and ensuring self and others follow Health, Safety & Environmental compliance with Company rules and expectations, and all legal obligations
- To complete ad hoc duties, tasks and projects as requested by management, when the needs of the business dictate.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
The ideal candidate will have experience working in this field although this is not essential as applications are welcome from practical, numerate and literate individuals willing to apply themselves to the work and to take full advantage of the internal and external training available.
You will have a flexible, proactive and ‘hands-on’ approach to work with effective communication, problem solving and IT skills. You will be involved with customers and colleagues at every level in the business and therefore you should be able to work confidently and courteously within the team and on your own initiative.
