Azure Databricks Platform Architect

We are seeking an experienced Azure Databricks Platform Architect to lead the design, governance, and implementation of enterprise-scale data platform solutions on Azure Databricks and Microsoft Azure.

This role requires a strong combination of strategic architecture capability and hands-on engineering expertise. The successful candidate will take ownership of the Databricks platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, automated, and aligned with enterprise cloud architecture standards.

Tasks

• Design and implement enterprise-scale Azure Databricks platform architectures
• Define and govern Databricks workspace structures, cluster policies, and operational workflows
• Lead implementation of Unity Catalog governance models, permissions, lineage, auditability, and external locations
• Establish secure Azure networking patterns including VNet injection, Private Link, and private endpoints
• Implement identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC/ABAC, managed identities, service principals, and Key Vault integrations
• Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD frameworks using Terraform/Bicep with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
• Ensure alignment with Microsoft Well-Architected principles and cloud governance standards
• Drive platform automation, operational maturity, cost governance, and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate architecture decisions into practical implementation guidance

Requirements

• Strong hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks platform engineering and architecture

• Deep experience designing enterprise Databricks environments, including:

• Workspace architecture

• Cluster governance

• Jobs and Workflows orchestration

• Platform operations and scalability

• Advanced knowledge of Unity Catalog governance and security models

• Strong Azure security and identity management expertise

• Experience with secure cloud networking patterns for enterprise data platforms

• Solid Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD experience using Terraform or Bicep

• Strong understanding of enterprise cloud governance and operational best practices

• Ability to operate independently in consulting or fast-paced delivery environments
