Care Assistant – Irvine and surrounding areas

Pay: £13.50 per hour | Double time on bank holidays | Mileage 33p to 45p/mile | Part-time, flexible hours | Driving licence and own vehicle required

Why care with us, not just any agency

Most home care visits elsewhere are 15–30 minutes — rushed, task-only, in and out. Every visit with us is a minimum of 1 hour, so you actually have time to make a difference, not just tick a box. We match you to clients based on shared interests and hobbies, so you're building real relationships in your own local community, not seeing a different stranger every day.

If you've got a kind heart and reliable transport, we'll teach you everything else.

What you'll be doing

  • Companionship – chats, trips out, time that matters
  • General housekeeping – cooking, cleaning, helping a home feel like home
  • Non-medical personal care, with full training provided

No experience needed. We just need you to care.

What we offer

  • £13.50 per hour, weekly pay
  • Double time for bank holidays
  • 33p to 45p per mile fuel contribution
  • Fully funded SVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification
  • Industry-leading, award-winning training from day one
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
  • Employee discount scheme
  • Company pension
  • Referral bonus scheme
  • Real career progression – many of our senior staff started exactly where you are now

Qualifications

  • What we're looking for

  • Compassionate, reliable, and a good communicator
  • Someone who wants to make a genuine difference to an older person's life, locally
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for getting between client visits across the area – other transport arrangements considered only in exceptional circumstances)
  • This role is subject to an enhanced PVG check, as you'll be working with vulnerable adults.

Additional Information

Applicants must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle although other methods of transportation may be acceptable and given due consideration depending on the needs of the client and their location.

We encourage applications from all sections of the community as we want to reflect the areas in which we work. Home Instead is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. This role is subject to enhanced PVG.
