AnaVation is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our engineering team in support of a mission-critical customer in Reston, VA. This full-time, on-site role requires availability during core hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM), with flexibility outside of core hours to complete a standard 8-hour workday.
As part of our engineering team, you will provide technical expertise in designing, automating, integrating, configuring, testing, and delivering cloud-based infrastructure and services across development, test, and production environments. You will also contribute to quarterly Agile Development Planning and participate in customer meetings as needed.
Our team operates entirely in the AWS cloud, working with services including deployment updates of Elastic, RHEL, and WSUS environments, as well as cross-domain integration and automation. We support and enhance a variety of core application and data services leveraged by multiple Government Agencies.
The Cloud Engineer will:
Design and implement scalable, secure, and automated AWS-based cloud infrastructure
Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code solutions to support cloud deployments
Analyze existing cloud infrastructure and identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and increased resilience
Implement security best practices, including patch management, access control, and vulnerability remediation
Design and build lab and demonstration environments for testing, prototyping, and solution validation
Research and evaluate emerging cloud technologies, especially in the area of cloud security and tooling
Collaborate with cyber, DevOps, and application development teams to integrate infrastructure with enterprise solutions
Support system documentation and reporting to align with mission and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Clearance: TS/SCI Eligible, willing to obtain polygraph
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field and 10 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Certifications: Currently hold, or be able to attain certification in the following:
  • DoD 8570 IAT II and CSSP Infrastructure Support certifications (CompTIA CySA+ preferred or equivalent certifications that cover both requirements acceptable such as both Security+ and Cloud+)
  • A Compute Environment-specific certification such as AWS, Azure, RedHat, Windows, etc.,
  • Location: Full time on-site in Reston, VA.
  • Experience and knowledge on:
  • Working collaboratively across cross-functional teams of all experience levels
  • Creating, maintaining, and updating related knowledge management and technical documentation
  • Experience analyzing, designing and implementing cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience integrating cloud infrastructure with platform management tools, identity and access management systems, and development/test environments.
  • Experience with automating build pipelines, cloud migrations, and implementing security and compliance controls in the cloud. Proficiency in AWS-based automation and scripting or programming in Bash and/or Python. Familiarity with configuring and managing web-hosted applications, including handling NPE certificates, port settings, security configurations, and web servers such as Apache or Nginx.
  • Experience reviewing infrastructure security holes, creating and installing security packs and patches as needed. Familiarity with RMF process and STIG baseline host hardening requirements, scanning and remediation.
  • Experience planning cloud migrations, developing cloud adoption roadmaps, and integrating new technologies into operational environments.
  • Experience producing innovation whitepapers, technical project plans, proof of concepts, and prototypes.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Desired Clearance: Active SCI with Polygraph
  • Desired Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field
  • Desired Certifications: Active CompTIA CySA+ or equivalent certifications covering both DoD 8570 IAT II and CSSP Infrastructure Support.
  • Computing Environment certifications with a strong preference for AWS certifications, ideally at least a second-tier Cloud Engineer level (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Developer – Associate).
  • Experience:
  • 10 years of relevant technical experience.
  • AWS with Linux systems engineering or system administrator experience
  • 4 years of experience designing and deploying Elastic data services in classified environments.
  • 4 years of experience designing and deploying WSUS patch services in classified environments.
  • 4 years of experience designing and deploying Red Hat patch services in classified environments.
  • AWS C2S delivery experience
  • Experience with Containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Experience providing systems engineering, integration, and architecture support to intelligence community customers.
  • Experience providing inputs to Government Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorization processes.
