Overview of Position
The key role of this team member is to support the Middle School & College Ministry Pastor, ministry volunteers, and the students, young adults, and families involved in Student and College Ministries. This position requires a highly organized individual who can prepare for and implement ministry activities, gatherings, discipleship opportunities, outreach events, retreats, and special programs.
This team member must possess strong relational, communication, and leadership skills, as they will regularly interact with students, parents, volunteers, and church staff. They should be comfortable speaking in front of groups, helping facilitate ministry environments, and assisting with leadership responsibilities during gatherings and events.
It is essential that this team member respects confidentiality and works successfully and graciously with a wide variety of personalities in the love and grace of Jesus Christ. The individual must regularly attend NCCTK services and maintain a commitment to personal prayer, spiritual growth, and Bible study.
Essential Responsibilities
- Attend weekly church staff meetings and ministry planning meetings.
- Communicate with students, parents, young adults, and volunteers through phone, text, email, and social media as appropriate.
- Assist with purchasing, organizing, and distributing ministry supplies.
- Help maintain student and young adult connection and retention through follow-up communication, encouragement, outreach, and postcards.
- Maintain database information pertaining to ministry activities and participants.
- Update the church Planning Center calendar with ministry events, facility requests, and scheduling needs.
- Track and report event attendance.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of weekly gatherings, Bible studies, discipleship groups, retreats, outreach opportunities, and special events.
- Process Planning Center workflows for volunteers and participants.
- Assist with volunteer coordination and onboarding.
- Help create welcoming environments for students, young adults, families, and guests.
- Meet and connect with students, parents, young adults, and volunteers as needed.
- Provide administrative and organizational support to the Middle School & College Ministry Pastor.
Qualifications & Skills
- Able to work well with others, resolve conflicts quickly and in a God-pleasing fashion, exhibit a positive attitude, accept suggestions and corrections with grace and patience, and enjoy working with a team.
- Professional appearance and demeanor (dress code is business casual to casual).
- Internet navigation experience, especially with the Microsoft Suiteand either Apple or Microsoft operating systems
- A self-starter: flexible, adaptable to new situations and needs, and proposing new ways to modify and improve systems.
- Able to teach and lead others; to bring new volunteers (and occasionally staff) up to speed on office policies and procedures.
- Possess the ability to patiently support leadership, team members, and ministries as priorities shift under tight deadlines
- Able to effectively communicate and teach the Word of God to students in an engaging and attractive way
- Obedient to the direction of the Holy Spirit regardless of personal desire
- Possess a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
