The Position
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all financial operations within a dynamic, multi-entity environment. This key leadership role ensures full compliance with accounting standards, drives process efficiency, mitigates financial risks, and helps guide strategic business decisions. Key Responsibilities

Direct and manage all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger functions.

Coordinate and lead the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts; regularly analyze results and report variances across multiple entities.

Prepare and publish timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

Research and resolve complex accounting issues, including compliance with technical standards and state-specific regulations.

Reconcile accounts and maintain detailed reporting on income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow.

Manage payroll administration and reconcile related benefits, 401(k), and tax obligations.

Support executive leadership with financial modeling, cash forecasting, and strategic planning.

Execute internal controls to safeguard company assets and strengthen financial reporting integrity.

Evaluate major expenditures and capital investments; provide recommendations on cost optimization and return on investment.

Supervise and mentor accounting team members, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth.

Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed to meet organizational goals.
Education & Experience

CPA licensed
-
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry (commercial or specialty contractor experience ideal).

Demonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills; experience with additional ERP or project management systems is a plus.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and Arizona tax rules and regulations.

Proven success managing complex, multi-company accounting environments.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
