Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician

Willmer Engineering is growing, and we are looking for a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician to join our Atlanta team. We are seeking candidates with current RTT, ICC, and Reinforcing Steel (Rebar) certifications, though additional certifications and experience are also valued.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial, industrial, transportation, and infrastructure projects while building your career with a growing engineering firm.

Preferred Certifications

The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following current certifications:

• GDOT Roadway Technician Training (RTT)
• ICC Special Inspector Certifications
• Reinforced Concrete/Rebar Inspection Certification
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
• Nuclear Density Gauge Certification
• NICET Certifications

What You'll Do

• Perform field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and other construction materials.
• Conduct inspections and testing in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable codes.
• Perform reinforcing steel (rebar) inspections and document compliance.
• Support special inspections for commercial and transportation projects.
• Perform testing on GDOT and other public infrastructure projects.
• Operate field equipment including nuclear density gauges, compression machines, and coring equipment.
• Accurately document field observations, test results, and inspection reports using electronic reporting systems.
• Communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients.

What You Bring

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
• Experience performing construction materials testing and special inspections preferred.
• Current RTT, ICC, and Rebar certifications strongly preferred.
• GDOT project experience highly preferred.
