The Mission

Datacom is New Zealand’s largest home-grown technology partner, but our future is consulting-led. We are looking for a senior consulting leader to be the intellectual spearhead of our Wellington business.

This is a high-influence, "front-end" leadership role. You are the bridge between complex Public Sector challenges and Datacom’s massive delivery engine. Your mission is to act as a force multiplier: embedding a consulting-first mindset across our Professional Services and ensuring we aren't just responding to RFPs, but actively shaping the digital agenda of New Zealand.

The Role: Your Impact

This is not a pre-sales role, nor is it a pure delivery role. You are a Strategic Architect and Originator.

  • The "What" and the "Why": You lead the high-level discovery. You sit with Senior business leadership/leaders and their direct reports to deconstruct their pain points, define the strategic "Why," and shape the "What" of the solution.
  • Force Multiplier for Growth: You partner with our Sales and Service Line leaders to infuse "Consulting DNA" into every customer conversation. You elevate our value proposition from "technology provider" to "strategic partner."
  • Market Authority: You are already a known entity in the Wellington Public Sector. You leverage your reputation and network to identify challenges before they become "competitive," often originating opportunities.
  • Framing for Success: You don't just win work; you architect it. You define the engagement model, frame the outcomes, and ensure a high-fidelity transition to our delivery teams.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a seasoned practitioner who carries "Commercial Gravity" in the Wellington market.

  • The Reputation: You are a recognized leader in the NZ Public Sector ecosystem. You have a track record of being the "first person called" when a senior leader has a complex problem to solve.
  • Strategic Growth Mindset: While you aren't carrying a traditional sales quota, you are driven by growth. You have the "nose" for an opportunity and the consulting craft to build a business case around it.
  • Senior Business Leader Articulation: You can move seamlessly between talking policy outcomes with a senior executives and technical strategy with a CIO.
  • The "Storming & Forming" Expert: You thrive in the ambiguity of the early stage. You excel at taking a "messy" problem and turning it into a structured, deliverable, and commercially viable consulting engagement.
  • Experience: 12+ years in top-tier consulting (Big 4 or similar) or senior leadership within the NZ Public Sector.
