Key Responsibilities
- Job Costing & Project Financials (Primary Focus)
- Ensure accurate job cost tracking (labor, materials, subcontractors)
- Partner with Project Managers to review job performance
- Identify cost overruns and margin fade early
- Support and improve WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting
Financial Reporting & Close
- Own monthly financials (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Lead month-end close (accurate and on time)
- Maintain integrity of all financial data
Billing, AR & Cash Flow
- Oversee progress billing and T&M invoicing
- Manage AR and collections
- Provide clear visibility into cash flow
- Improve billing processes and timelines
AP, Payroll & Cost Control
- Ensure accurate cost coding of invoices
- Oversee payables and vendor management
- Support payroll and proper labor cost allocation
- Ensure accurate payroll, certified payroll submissions, labor cost tracking, and Davis-Bacon reporting
Process & Systems Improvement
- Clean up and standardize accounting workflows
- Improve job costing accuracy and consistency
- Optimize accounting and job costing systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- Construction accounting and job costing experience
- Mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or trade contractor experience preferred
- Strong understanding of WIP reporting, project financials, and construction operations
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis
- Experience with QuickBooks and integrated construction accounting systems
- Knowledge of payroll, labor allocation, certified payroll, and cost tracking
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
