Patcham Nursing Home is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Weekend Cook to join our warm and welcoming kitchen team in Brighton.
We are a 30-bed family-run nursing home, providing personalised care in a homely and supportive environment. At Patcham Nursing Home, food is about much more than nutrition - it is about comfort, dignity, routine, and creating a true sense of home for our residents.
Our kitchen team plays an important role in residents’ daily lives, preparing fresh, nutritious meals that support wellbeing and bring enjoyment to mealtimes.

About the Cook Role
We are looking for a confident and caring cook who can prepare nutritious, freshly cooked meals while supporting residents’ individual dietary needs and preferences.
You will play an important role in creating enjoyable mealtimes and ensuring residents receive meals that are not only nutritious but also comforting and familiar.
Experience working in a catering, care home, or similar environment is preferred, along with a good understanding of food hygiene standards and dietary requirements.
Role Details
- £14.35 per hour (reviewed annually) + weekend enhancements paid
- Permanent contract
- 20 hours per week
- Saturday and Sunday shifts
Cook Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook breakfasts, lunches, and light evening meals
- Provide two lunch options plus desserts
- Bake cakes for birthdays and special occasions
- Cater for residents and staff
- Support residents’ dietary and nutritional needs
- Cater for modified diets and individual preferences
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards
- Help create a warm and positive dining experience for residents
Experience
- Previous cook experience required
- Experience in a care home, healthcare, or catering environment is desirable
- Knowledge of food safety and dietary requirements is essential
