Description of Task to be Performed:

AnaVation is seeking a Database Administrator Mid-level who will manage and optimize our customers database environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and backup/restore strategies This role blends core DBA tasks with system administration in Windows Server. You’ll help ensure reliability, scalability, and security across our platforms while partnering closely with development and infrastructure teams.

Daily duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Designs, implements, and maintains moderately complex databases.
  • Maintains database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design.
  • Administer and test computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems.
  • Monitor performance, analyze wait stats, tune queries, and manage indexes and statistics
  • Design, implement, and manage backup, recovery, and high availability/DR (e.g., AGs, log shipping)
  • Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configuration
  • Automate routine operations using PowerShell or similar scripting tools
  • Collaborate with teams to support application releases and schema changes
  • Enforce database and system security with proper access controls, encryption, and auditing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across production and non-production environments
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for procedures, configurations, and best practices

This position requires a Top-Secret clearance.

This position is on-site in Washington DC with no remote option.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
  • Experience with database administration.
  • Experience implementing data policies, procedures, standards.
  • Experience planning and development of an organization's enterprise data model.
  • Experience resolving data conflicts.
  • Experience managing data repositories.
  • Familiarity with backup tools, monitoring systems, and disaster recovery planning.
  • A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.
  • Can be on-site 5 days a week.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages
  • Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, or SSAS
  • Experience using NiFi for ETL workflows
  • Familiarity with Linux environments
  • Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
  • Cloud experience
  • Experience migrating data between different database systems or versions, as well as integrating data from multiple sources into a unified database environment
