The Role – Ground Operations Manager
The Deputy Ground Operations Manager supports and deputises the Nominated Person Ground Operations (NPGO) in the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of all Ground Operations activities. The role combines operational control responsibilities with team leadership, compliance oversight and continuous improvement of the Ground Operations Department.
Key Responsibilities
Flight Planning and Operational Control
• Prepare crew briefings and provide operational support to flight crews.
• Coordinate permits, slots, handling arrangements and all ground services required for company flights.
• Prepare operational flight plans, weather briefings, NOTAMs, performance calculations and associated flight documentation.
• Liaise with handling agents, FBOs, fuel suppliers, authorities and other service providers.
• Monitor flight progress and provide operational support throughout all stages of flight.
• Ensure all operational activities are conducted safely, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
Team Leadership
• Assist and deputise the NPGO in the management of Operations Officers.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and employee development initiatives.
• Promote a positive team culture and ensure staff welfare, engagement and productivity.
• Lead or support departmental projects and process improvement initiatives.
Compliance and Departmental Oversight
• Act on behalf of the NPGO when required.
• Support compliance with applicable regulatory, safety and company requirements.
• Participate in audits, investigations, corrective actions and Safety Management System activities.
• Assist in maintaining Ground Operations procedures, manuals and emergency response arrangements.
• Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure effective operational coordination and service delivery.
Requirements
• Previous experience in a Deputy Ground Operations Manager, Ground Operations Supervisor, Operations Control Supervisor, Senior Flight Dispatcher, or similar leadership role within an AOC or business aviation environment.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Good understanding of business aviation operations and EASA regulatory requirements.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
