As a Design Engineer at Ware Malcomb, you will contribute to the delivery of building engineering solutions for a diverse range of clients. You will assist with engineering design and analysis while supporting overall project delivery and client requirements. Under limited supervision, you will be responsible for preparing calculations, drawings, and specifications while continuing to develop your technical expertise. You may also lead and coordinate portions of planning, organization, and integration activities within your area of responsibility.

Your Role

  • Assist the Senior Engineer and serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) when assigned, planning project layouts and integrating building systems into unified designs for client review and approval
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and actively participate in internal and external project meetings to ensure alignment and resolve issues
  • Prepare and supervise the development of scaled drawings, specifications, and contract documents for building contractors, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Perform engineering calculations using Excel or engineering software related to mechanical and building systems design
  • Perform construction administration duties, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and periodic on-site observations to monitor compliance with plans
  • Lead field work activities such as verification, assessments, and troubleshooting for building system performance and installation
  • Review calculation outputs from engineering software for accuracy and technical compliance
  • Support technical development initiatives and participate in resolving complex engineering design challenges
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Valid Cédula Profesional in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • 5+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role, preferably within building systems or MEP environments
  • Proficiency in Revit required; experience with mechanical system modeling is a plus
  • Ability to speak, understand, and write in English is required
  • Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles
  • Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations
  • Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous
