SUMMARY:

The Athletic Director/Physical Education Teacher should hold or be eligible for SDA teaching certification appropriate to the assignment and possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in physical education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field. The individual will provide quality physical education instruction for elementary and secondary students while developing and overseeing a Christ-centered athletic program that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and healthy living in alignment with the school mission of educating the head, the hand, and the heart.


The Athletic Director is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the school's athletic program, including scheduling games, supervising coaches, maintaining athletic equipment, organizing transportation and facilities, communicating with league officials and parents, and ensuring compliance with league, conference, and school policies.

As a faculty member, the individual is expected to model Christian values and maintain a lifestyle consistent with Seventh-day Adventist beliefs while supporting the spiritual, academic, social, and physical development of students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Athletic Director/Physical Education Teacher will:

  • Teach engaging and developmentally appropriate elementary and high school Physical Education classes using adopted curriculum and current instructional strategies.
  • Promote lifelong health, physical fitness, wellness, teamwork, and sportsmanship through daily instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the physical abilities and developmental needs of all


  • Monitor and assess student learning and physical skill development using formal and informal assessments.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment during all physical education activities.
  • Develop and enforce standards for student conduct, safety, and respectful
  • Supervise students during PE classes and athletic
  • Coordinate all school athletic programs, including elementary middle school and high school sports and classes.
  • Recruit, supervise, support, and evaluate athletic coaches in collaboration with the
  • Schedule athletic contests, tournaments, transportation, officials, and
  • Maintain communication with faculty, opposing schools, athletic leagues, conference personnel, officials, and parents.
  • Develop athletic schedules and calendars for students, families, and

  • Assist with budgeting for athletic programs and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with conference, CIF (if applicable), league, and school eligibility
  • Coordinate student-athlete eligibility, physical examinations, and required athletic
  • Organize athletic awards, recognition programs, and end-of-season
  • Act as a student leadership sponsor or class
  • Support school-wide events that promote school spirit and student
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, coaches, and

  • Fulfill adjunct duties including supervision, committees, worship participation, and other responsibilities assigned by the principal.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or related
  • SDA Teaching Credential or ability to obtain
  • Coaching experience
  • CPR/First Aid certification

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, coaches, officials, and community members.
  • Ability to prepare schedules, correspondence, reports, and athletic communications.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate grades, budgets, inventory, schedules, statistics, and athletic records.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment regarding student supervision, safety, scheduling, and athletic programming.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Work evenings and weekends as athletic schedules
  • Moderate to high activity level and noise during classes and sporting
