Job Summary
D.C. Goodman & Sons is a commercial and industrial electrical contractor performing general electrical, power generation, high/medium voltage distribution, and BIM-coordinated construction on new construction and renovation projects. We're hiring an Electrical Estimator to price commercial and industrial electrical scopes accurately, working closely with the business development and project management teams to turn drawings and specs into competitive, profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Review electrical drawings, specs, and construction documents to perform takeoffs
- Estimate labor hours, material costs, overhead, and margin for commercial/industrial electrical scopes
- Solicit and evaluate vendor/supplier pricing on materials and equipment
- Build complete bid packages and submit proposals within client/GC deadlines
- Clarify scope questions with GCs/clients and adjust pricing as needed during the bid process
- Coordinate with the business development team on incoming leads and bid timelines
- Hand off awarded jobs to project managers/foremen with clear scope and budget
- Track win/loss rates and refine estimating accuracy over time
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating, or a strong electrical trade background (journeyman-level or higher) with estimating exposure
- Ability to read and take off electrical blueprints, schematics, and specs
- Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam plus an electrical estimating platform such as Accubid)
- Financial literacy — labor rates, material costs, overhead, and margin
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Experience estimating high/medium voltage distribution and power generation systems
- Familiarity with BIM-coordinated construction projects
- OSHA 10 certification
- Degree or background in construction management, engineering, or electrical trades
