About this role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers building cybersecurity products. In this role, you will be responsible for both the technical direction and people development of your team, working closely with product managers, security researchers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure software at scale.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who is comfortable switching between strategic thinking and getting into the technical details when needed -- and who can communicate clearly with both engineers on the ground and C-suite stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Strategy

  • Partner with department leadership to develop and execute engineering strategy and vision for the cybersecurity product portfolio
  • Own and drive the technical delivery of product features, ensuring alignment with the overall product strategy and security requirements
  • Conduct technical landscape reviews and evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and security practices to inform engineering decisions
  • Build compelling business and technical cases for investments in infrastructure, tooling, and team growth, and present these to SLM
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, including code review practices, secure development lifecycle (SDLC) standards, and incident response procedures
  • Lead post-mortems following incidents or delivery failures, driving systemic improvements across the team

People Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, providing regular feedback, career development support, and performance guidance
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including product managers, security researchers, and executive leadership
  • Communicate engineering progress, risks, and strategic recommendations clearly to both technical teams and C-suite audiences
  • Collaborate with UX teams and product managers to deliver intuitive and secure solutions
  • Translate stakeholder and user needs into clear technical requirements and engineering priorities

Agile & Development Team Collaboration

  • Lead and facilitate all sprint ceremonies including planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster an environment of collaborative problem-solving and innovation
  • Work closely with product leads to remove blockers, optimise team velocity, and balance technical debt with new feature development
  • Ensure product compliance with relevant security standards and regulations
  • Monitor and analyse engineering metrics such as deployment frequency, incident rates, and team velocity to drive data-informed decisions

Required Qualifications

  • 6–8 years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in an engineering management or technical lead role
  • Proven track record of end-to-end product delivery in cybersecurity or enterprise software environments
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity domains such as threat detection, vulnerability management, identity and access management, or security operations tooling
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards including MITRE ATT&CK, OWASP, NIST, or ISO 27001
  • Experience conducting or overseeing threat modelling, secure code reviews, or technical risk assessments
  • Demonstrated ability to present technical strategies, risks, and recommendations to senior non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in stakeholder management across different organisational levels, including executive engagement
  • Demonstrated experience in hiring, mentoring, and retaining engineering talent
  • Proficiency in engineering practices including version control, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and secure development practices
  • Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies and frameworks
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities
