About this role
At Elysian Aircraft, we're not just building a company; we're crafting a vision for the future of aviation. With the sky as our canvas, we see endless possibilities on our journey. Supported by industry leaders and global organizations, our mission to create the aircraft of the future is already taking flight.
We are engineers. We are pilots. We are builders. We don’t chase hype. We are true to science. Like the pioneers of aviation, we build what doesn’t exist yet.
New angles fuel honest debates to challenge conventions when the problems are first-of-a-kind. We welcome people who bring different perspectives, backgrounds, and paths.
This is Elysian and we are on a mission to enable the electrification of the aerospace industry. If that makes your pulse rise, come build with us.
Your Mission:
Build, instrument, and support prototype hardware and test set-ups with strong safety and configuration discipline.
- Enable fast, safe prototype build and test by executing work accurately and documenting configuration.
- Improve test reliability through solid set-ups, clean instrumentation, and disciplined checks.
- Reduce rework by reporting issues early with clear evidence (photos, measurements, build notes).
Your Day-to-Day:
- Support prototype builds: assembly, fit-up, rework, and basic fabrication tasks under guidance.
- Prepare and maintain test set-ups (fixtures, wiring, sensors, instrumentation routing) with safe practices.
- Follow and improve build/test instructions; feed back issues and propose practical fixes.
- Track parts, serials, and configuration status for prototypes and test articles.
- Support test execution: set-up, checks, logging, teardown, and basic inspection.
- Troubleshoot basic hardware issues and escalate with clear evidence (photos, measurements, logs).
- Maintain a clean, safe, organised workspace; handle tools and equipment responsibly.
- Coordinate with engineers to implement design changes correctly and document what changed.
Traits for Success:
- Technical education (MBO/HBO or equivalent) in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace domains.
- 2-4 years’ experience in a workshop, prototype lab, aviation/automotive, or similar hands-on setting.
- Ability to read basic drawings and follow build instructions accurately.
- Comfort with hand tools and measurement tools; safe working habits.
- Discipline with documentation and configuration (you record what you built and how).
- Willingness to learn and to receive/give feedback; steady attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate issues clearly and early.
- Respect for safety-critical standards: you do not “make it work” without documenting and escalating.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with wiring, crimping, harness prep, or instrumentation.
- Experience working with composites and 3D printing.
- Experience working with CAD
- Experience supporting engineering tests (rigs, environmental tests, endurance tests).
- Experience with inventory tracking and parts control.
- Experience in regulated environments (aviation, medical, automotive).
