Student Training Support at ITTC North Bay

Our student support and training teams play a critical role in helping international students successfully transition into ITTC’s training environment.

Students arrive in North Bay from allied nations and are required to operate in a structured, professional, and demanding aviation training setting. Strong English language skills are essential to their success in the classroom, in daily communication, and throughout their overall training experience.

The ESL Instructor will support student readiness by delivering practical, structured English language instruction that builds confidence, improves communication, and helps students integrate into the ITTC environment.

Position Summary

The ESL Instructor is responsible for delivering English as a Second Language instruction to international students attending training at ITTC North Bay.

This role focuses on practical English communication, classroom readiness, aviation-related terminology, and day-to-day language skills required to support student success in a professional training environment.

As a key front-facing member of the training support team, the ESL Instructor will work closely with ITTC staff to align language instruction with onboarding, student integration, and operational training needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver ESL instruction to international students in a classroom setting
  • Support students in developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
  • Prepare and deliver lesson plans, learning materials, and practical language activities
  • Focus instruction on practical English used in daily life, classroom training, and aviation-related environments
  • Support student onboarding and integration into ITTC’s training environment
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and ITTC leadership
  • Adapt instruction to varying language levels, learning styles, and student needs
  • Maintain a professional, structured, and culturally aware classroom environment
  • Coordinate with ITTC staff to ensure ESL programming aligns with student schedules and operational requirements
  • Support a positive student experience while maintaining clear expectations and accountability

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience teaching English as a Second Language
  • TESL, TESOL, CELTA, OCT, or equivalent certification is preferred
  • Experience working with adult learners or international students is considered an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans and instructional materials
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills
  • Experience in aviation, technical training, military training, or a structured operational environment is considered an asset but is not required
