As aFabricationEngineerIIat D-Wave New Haven, you willbe responsible forthe manufacturing of both discrete andfully-integratedsuperconducting QPU parts, using clean room facilitieslocatedboth in-house and at Yale University, under the training and supervision of senior fabrication staff.Quantumdevices use materials and design requirements that make the fabrication process significantly different from standard CMOS processing; your role will be to execute the process,monitorthe results, andidentifyand troubleshoot problems as they occur. You will alsobe responsible fordesigning and executing experiments to improve parts of the processanddriving the development ofnew processes for our next-gen integrated QPU fabrication.

In addition to production, you willassistin the process of bringingup D-Wave’s new in-house fabrication facilityinNew Haven in2027, including installation and qualification of new tools and processes.


What you'll do

  • Responsible for the fabrication, metrology, and final QC/testing of both our current-generation chips and our next-gen integrated QPU
  • Operating tools such as metal deposition systems, electron-beam and optical lithography tools, and wet and dry etch systems in both the D-Wave and Yale clean room facilities
  • Routine maintenance of tools and facilities in the D-Wave lab, and qualification of new fabrication tools asthey are delivered
  • Monitoring tool and process health by designing and running regularstatistical process control (SPC) and design of experiment (DOE)routines
  • Interpreting processyieldand metrology data,identifyingproblems with the process, and troubleshooting them as quickly as possible
  • Conducting failure analysis (FA) on bad devices to quicklydeterminethe root cause and design a fix
  • Designing and executing experiments to improvedevice quality and processfidelity,andpresenting the results to the fabrication team and other management


About You

  • 1-3years of semiconductor or relatedfabricationindustry experience
  • Experienceworking in clean room environments, particularly in production/industry settings
  • Experience with standard fabrication steps such as wet and dry etch, metal deposition, and optical lithography
  • Experience withstandardmetrologytools(SEM, AFM,profilometer,etc) for both processmonitoringand failure analysis
  • Ability to execute a process exactly as designed over many runs with no operator variation
  • Ability to design and execute experiments independently in a clean-room environment
  • Able to generate and communicate an experimental test plan, stick to it, and document and effectively communicate the results to stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals from various physics/engineering backgrounds

$76,400 – 114,600USD(New Haven)
