Texel Air seeks a Finance Manager to take charge of the day-to-day financial activities and lead a team of three finance staff. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer in providing the stable financial platform to support Texel Air’s future growth.

Based in our modern office at Auckland Airport, the Finance Manager is a key role in our business and plays a pivotal role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and the sustainability of our operations. Reporting to the CFO, responsibilities include financial activities specific to the aviation industry, accurate financial processing, compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to strategic decision-making and financial management. You will manage a team of three: Accounts Payable, Payroll along with a Financial Accountant to support you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: assisting with the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Payroll Management: supervising and supporting the Payroll Officer across New Zealand and Australian payroll compliance
  • General Ledger Management: oversee the general ledger, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records
  • Fixed Asset and Inventory Management: oversee and update the fixed asset register, running depreciation and periodically reviewing the register. Ensuring that inventory reconciles to our parts management system
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: manage payable function, ensuring that no invoices are paid without approval and in line with payment terms. Processing invoices and monitoring accounts receivable. Ensuring that cashflow forecasts are updated and cash in managed in line with good working capital management practices
  • Tax compliance: preparation, review and filing of GST, payday filing and support of other tax obligations
  • Other: cost management, financial analysis, compliance and other duties as expected in a role of this nature

About You

You will be an a highly experienced Financial Accountant with extensive knowledge of accounting standards and tax laws in New Zealand. In addition, you’ll be tertiary qualified in accounting, finance, or a related field along with having professional certification such as a CA, CPA, or equivalent. It will be advantageous if you have knowledge of Australian finance and tax requirements.

In addition, you will be a strong communicator, both written and oral, and have the ability to build effective relationships at all levels while providing valuable business advice and support. Your key strengths should include problem-solving, a meticulous and accurate approach to work, flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certification such as CA, CPA, or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards and tax laws
  • Proficient in accounting software (Microsoft Business Central preferred) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines
  • A professional, reliable, and safety-focused approach, with strong integrity and sound judgement
