AI Summary

Forward Deployed Engineer who deploys Sunrise robotic systems in live manufacturing environments, serves as the primary technical liaison with customers, and translates field feedback into product and process improvements.

About this role

Our Mission:

At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost.

Our Vision:

We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future.

The role:

At Sunrise Robotics, this Forward Deployed Engineer role exists to make our robotic systems work reliably in real factories, and to turn each deployment into something we can repeat and scale.

You’ll own end-to-end delivery in live production environments, working directly with customers to get systems running and meeting real production requirements. At the same time, you’ll identify what slows us down or breaks across deployments, and help turn those insights into improvements in our product, tools, and processes.

You are not just someone who installs machines and leaves. You are the bridge between the field and our development team - the person who has seen the full cycle from design through to live production, and who brings that knowledge back to make us better.

What you’ll do:

  • Deploy Sunrise robotic systems in live manufacturing environments and deliver successful customer go-lives

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers during integration and ramp-up

  • Own system performance during deployment, ensuring solutions meet defined operational and reliability standards

  • Troubleshoot deployed systems and resolve technical issues to maintain uptime and reliability

  • Investigate operational incidents and implement fixes that prevent recurrence

  • Support pilot launches and early-stage deployments, ensuring systems reach production readiness

  • Translate real-world production constraints into structured input for product and engineering teams

  • Identify and eliminate sources of non-recurring engineering in deployments

  • Improve deployment workflows, tools, and system architecture to enable repeatable delivery

  • Collaborate with AI, robotics, product, and commercial teams to align customer needs with product evolution

What you’ll need:

  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience programming and deploying industrial robots in real production environments

  • PLC programming experience, ideally with Siemens TIA Portal

  • Experience with simulation environments

  • Ability to read and make changes to electrical wiring diagrams

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on-site

  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Profisafe, and Modbus

  • Experience with industrial safety systems - radars, LiDARs, safety doors

  • Experience with ROS 2

  • Ability to analyse complex systems and generalise solutions across different deployments

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across AI, software, mechanical, and electrical engineering

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teams

  • Ability to work autonomously and take full ownership in the field

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage travel, customers, and delivery simultaneously

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Working knowledge of simulation environments (e.g., NVIDIA Isaac Sim / Omniverse), synthetic data generation, and structured QA processes

  • Familiarity with applied machine learning in industrial settings

  • Experience with ABB SafeMove

  • Experience with collaborative robotic applications

  • Experience using safety analysis tools and functional safety standards

  • Background in mechatronics, electromechanical, or mechanical engineering

  • Experience with Behaviour Tree-based system control

Why Us:

We’re building a new category of intelligent, flexible robotic automation with real deployments, real customers, and momentum across Europe.

  • High exposure: Work directly with founders and leadership on decisions that shape how we deploy and scale automation

  • Career acceleration: Gain deep experience across deployment, product, and system design while helping define how modern robotics companies scale delivery

  • Real impact: Your work will run in live production environments, directly influencing customer outcomes, product direction, and how quickly we can scale across factories
