We are seeking a Retail Assistant to join our dynamic team and play a key role in supporting the Food & Beverage department within our organisation. Role Overview:

The General Store Retail Assistant is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets.


Main Duties:

  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquires accurately.
  • Pick up, count and maintain bank.
  • Sell merchandise and enter sales and payments in the Point of Sale (POS) system
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service.
  • Aid customers in locating merchandise.
  • Operate the food service and deli areas.
  • Merchandise all stock.
  • Conduct stocktaking when necessary.


Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers)
  • Ability to use a Point of Sale (POS) system is preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time, enduring various physical movements including stretching, pushing and bending.
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled.
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment.



The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least one (1) year experience in a similar role is an asset.
  • Must be proficient in cash handling and transaction processing.
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Work with minimal supervision..
  • Must be able to work around chemicals.
