OVERVIEW
The Alo HR Director, Distribution Center operations leads the human resources strategy and execution for multiple U.S. distribution center and warehouse facilities. This role partners closely with operations leadership to build a high-performing, compliant, and engaged workforce across a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
The HR Director is responsible for workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compliance, training, engagement, and organizational effectiveness for distribution center operations. This role also supports a multilingual employee population and helps ensure consistent HR practices across all sites.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead HR strategy and day-to-day HR support for multiple U.S. distribution center and warehouse locations.
- Lead, coach, and develop site HR team members across multiple U.S. distribution center locations, including setting priorities, building capability, and driving accountability.
- Partner with operations and site leadership to align workforce plans with business needs, labor demand, peak season requirements, and long-term operational goals.
- Develop and execute recruiting and retention strategies for hourly and salaried distribution center roles.
- Collaborate with site leaders to identify staffing needs and drive effective onboarding, orientation, and new hire integration.
- Build and sustain a positive, inclusive, and high-accountability workplace culture across all facilities.
- Provide leadership and guidance on employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as company policies and standards.
- Develop, implement, and update HR policies, procedures, and programs to support operational consistency and legal compliance.
- Partner with leaders to drive performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, coaching, and development planning.
- Identify talent needs and build succession planning and career development pathways within distribution center operations.
- Design and support training initiatives that enhance frontline leadership capability, employee performance, and operational effectiveness.
- Partner with Health and Safety and operations teams to reinforce a strong culture of safety and reduce workplace incidents.
- Use workforce data and HR metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and make practical recommendations to leadership.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and action planning to improve retention, morale, and productivity.
- Oversee HR practices within warehouse operations in alignment with Fair Labor Association (FLA) standards, where applicable.
- Help uphold the company’s workplace code of conduct, grievance mechanisms, and remediation processes across distribution center operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree or Human Resources certification preferred.
- Significant progressive HR leadership experience, preferably supporting multi-site warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, or logistics operations.
- Experience supporting bilingual English- and Spanish-speaking employee populations strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and employment law.
- Demonstrated ability to influence leaders and build credibility in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to support decisions and recommendations.
- Ability to travel to multiple U.S. facilities as needed.
- Spanish fluency preferred or required, depending on business need.
