Purpose of the role:

As a HR Apprentice, you’ll play an important role in supporting managers and employees across the business with everyday HR questions and processes. You’ll be part of a team that delivers a friendly, helpful and reliable HR service, making sure people get the support they need throughout their time with the company.

You’ll be one of the first people employees and managers come to with HR queries, helping to provide clear and accurate advice and guiding them through things like recruitment, onboarding, and other people processes. Working in a busy, fast-paced environment, you’ll use HR systems, policies and guidelines to help solve problems, manage queries and keep everything running smoothly. This role is a great opportunity to build your confidence, develop strong people and problem-solving skills, and gain hands-on experience that supports the wider business.

Apprenticeship Information

  • Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship
  • Duration: Approximately 24 Months + EPA
  • Hours: 37.5 per week
  • Hourly rate: £10.60 (The advertised salary range reflects variations in contracted weekly hours. Apprentice pay is calculated using a standard hourly rate, with annual salary adjusted according to the contractual hours available for the position. Working hour arrangements may vary based on age-related employment regulations and business requirements)
  • Qualification delivered through an approved training provider
  • Dedicated study time provided as part of your working week
  • Ongoing support from your manager, mentor, and training provider

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for HR support, helping employees and managers with questions via email, phone, and HR systems
  • Manage the HR inbox, responding to queries or directing them to the right person quickly and confidently
  • Provide friendly, clear advice on basic HR topics, ensuring people feel supported and informed
  • Deliver a high-quality People Support service, making sure service standards and response times are met
  • Handle HR requests from start to finish, keeping track of queries and making sure nothing gets missed
  • Support key HR processes including onboarding new starters and processing contract changes
  • Prepare and manage new starter paperwork, ensuring everything is completed accurately and on time
  • Work closely with Payroll, IT and Training teams to make sure employee information (starters and leavers) is up to date
  • Maintain and update employee records on systems like Cascade (HR system) and other internal platforms
  • Apply for, chase and complete employment references, ensuring compliance with company processes
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team, helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes
  • Ensure all employee information is handled with confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Follow HR policies and processes, helping to deliver a consistent and reliable HR service
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues across the business to support a great employee experience
  • Support high-volume HR activities, learning how a busy HR function operates day-to-day
  • Use HR systems to log, track and update tasks and cases
  • Assist with HR data and reporting to support decision-making across the business
  • Complete all apprenticeship learning and training, applying new skills in the workplace
  • Take part in regular check-ins with your manager and training provider to track your development

Qualifications & Training:

  • Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent of Grade C-A*) or Functional Skills Level 2
  • ICT literate in all Office applications
