Cherokee Brick & Tile Company is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Human Resources, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead the HR function for our Jackson, Mississippi facility. This position serves as the primary Human Resources representative for the location while overseeing workplace safety programs and supporting environmental compliance initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with local management while collaborating with the Vice President of Compliance & Employment and the Corporate Human Resources team at our Corporate Office in Macon, Georgia.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead day-to-day Human Resources operations, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, and policy administration.
  • Coordinate OSHA compliance, safety training, incident investigations, workers' compensation, and return-to-work programs.
  • Assist with environmental inspections, recordkeeping, and regulatory compliance.
  • Advise supervisors on employee relations, performance management, investigations, and employment law compliance.
  • Maintain HR records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Work independently while maintaining regular communication with the Corporate Human Resources team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Five or more years of Human Resources, Safety, Environmental Compliance, or related experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with employee relations, OSHA compliance, workers' compensation, FMLA, ADA, recruiting, and employment law preferred.
  • Professional HR or safety certifications are a plus but are not required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Occasional evening, weekend, and travel requirements as business needs dictate.
