Purpose of the department:
To ensure a welcoming, clean, and safe beach environment for all guests. The Island Attendant enhances the guest experience by providing excellent customer service, maintaining beach facilities, and ensuring smooth beachside operations.

Basic Function
Position: Island Attendant
Department: Guest Services / Beach Operations
Reports To: Facility Manager / Director Island
Location: [Renaissance Island]
Schedule: Full-time / Part-time (Weekends & Holidays as required)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet all guests with a warm and friendly attitude.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all beach areas, including sunbeds, lounge chairs, towels, and walkways.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down daily beach arrangements.
- Monitor guest activity and provide support as needed.
- Ensure guests adhere to safety rules and beach policies.
JOB SPECIFIC TASKS
- Set up beach lounge chairs in a neat, guest-ready manner.
- Distribute and collect towels, keeping accurate counts.
- Provide information about water sports, resort services, and island activities.
- Assist with basic first aid when necessary and report any accidents to management.
- Maintain beach equipment and report damages or loss.
- Help organize beach events or activities as needed.
General
- Control incoming and outgoing beach towels.
- Report variances to Facilities Manager.
- Maintain positive working relationships with third party Red Sail Sport service.
- Treat equipment belonging to the to beach and Island as you would with the property.
- Control the towel carts to ensure they are clean.
- Keep the restaurants clean from trash bins to Beach sand.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and in good condition.
- Return all supplies to their proper place at the end of your shift.
- Maintain a neat, clean, safe and well-organized workspace at all times.
- Responsible for working in a productive and efficient manner.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings as requested by management.
- Perform any other reasonable requests within your function made by your superior.
- Be a good representative of the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba.
Communication
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Use two-way radios or communication devices to coordinate with other team members.
- Report any concerns, guest complaints, or incidents immediately and appropriately.
- Provide clear instructions or information to guests, especially regarding safety and facility use.
Guest Relations
- Be a micro-local Navigator.
- Provide guest experiences that provoke discovery and live our brand values.
- Have good knowledge of all hotel facilities in order to answer all guest inquiries.
- Know how to use the LEARN model and apply the steps to resolve guest issues.
Safety and Security
- Regularly inspect the beach area for potential hazards.
- Enforce safety protocols, including swimming zone rules and weather alerts.
- Immediately report (near) accidents and unsafe situations/actions to superiors.
- Lost and found items must be immediately reported to your superior.
- Maintain vigilance and notify the appropriate personnel in case of emergencies or suspicious activity.
Minimum Requirements
Physical condition - This function requires a good physical condition and ability to work 8 hours on your feet.
Languages – English is required for high-guest contact employees and a second language, namely Papiamento, Spanish or Dutch are required for certain positions.
Detailed - Attention to detail when cleaning.
Motivated and responsible - Be a self-starter, show initiative and motivate others to maintain a positive work environment.
Efficiency - Ability to work efficiently and complete tasks during the timeframe provided by your supervisor.
Flexibility - Ability to work flexible hours including but not limited to days, nights, evenings, and holidays.
