We are seeking a Lead Technician to help manage and guide the LA Compounding Team. As a lead you will be responsible for managing your team to meet operational goals by delegating tasks and delivering timely feedback to team members. The ideal candidate is a well-organized, strong communicator with a desire to develop their skills as a leader.
Responsibilities
Perform all functions of a compounding technician including: Compound non-sterile pharmaceutical preparations, including but not limited to the compounding of capsules, tablets, oral liquids and topical medications.
Collaborate with Compounding Pharmacists and the Pharmacist-in-Charge to achieve department’s operational goals
Lead weekly huddle and daily stand-ups with Lab Team
Manage inter-department communication in timely fashion
Schedule and conduct one-on-one feedback sessions direct reports at least monthly
Create schedule for team and manage both time-off requests and sick/leave
Review and approve timecards
Participate in interviewing and evaluating applicants for open roles in department
Collaborate with the Quality/Compliance Team, Lab pharmacists and Pharmacist-in-Charge in completing new hire training and annual assessments
Assist with inventory reconciliation and receiving of pharmacy inventory
Communicate with other teams to resolve issues, expedite requests and modify orders as needed
Oversee workflow optimization, stock, proper procedure and deactivation, cleaning and disinfection of designated compounding areas including HD rooms.
Qualified and trained to be responsible for developing and implementing appropriate HD procedures; ensuring competency of personnel; and ensuring environmental control of the storage and compounding areas.
Thoroughly understand the rationale for risk-prevention policies, risks of non-compliance that may compromise safety, and the responsibility to report potentially hazardous situations to management.
Responsible for ensuring proper disposal of HD waste and maintaining HD transfer to waste management vendors at a frequency appropriate for the proper maintenance of the site.
Ensure completion of all daily, weekly and monthly cleaning and maintenance tasks as outlined in Pharmacy stars or another software in use for the purpose of documentation of completion.
Maintain clean and organized department and workspaces
Assist lab team as needed on special projects
About You
You have at least 4 years of experience working as a pharmacy technician
You have at least 1-2 years of experience working in compounding and management
You have a customer-focused (and in our case, a pet-focused!) mindset
You thrive in a fast-paced work environment
You have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - and are a collaborative, team-player
You have an all-hands-on-deck attitude with an ability to remain calm and excel under pressure
You have the ability to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures
You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability
You are scrappy and resourceful
You’re not afraid of wearing multiple hats - you pitch in to help the team when necessary
