The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of “Lead Metallurgical Expert”, for its premises in Chalkidiki. The position will be reported to the Head of Processing, of the Process Plant department in Olympias.
Main Responsibilities:
• Senior metallurgical leadership and strategic direction for the processing operation, ensuring alignment with business objectives, annual plans, long-term operational goals, and corporate performance expectations.
• Ownership of the metallurgical strategy, optimisation roadmap, and governance framework, including the identification, prioritisation, and oversight of plant improvement opportunities, debottlenecking initiatives, process optimisation programs, and future processing constraints.
• Strategic oversight of metallurgical performance, driving sustainable improvements in throughput, recovery, concentrate quality, water management, operational stability, asset utilisation, and cost efficiency.
• Metallurgical leadership and technical input into business planning, production forecasting, operational readiness, commissioning, ramp-up, stabilisation activities, plant expansions, capital projects, and long-term processing strategies.
• Accountability for metallurgical governance, technical assurance, metallurgical accounting, reconciliation processes, KPI management, mass balance validation, reporting standards, and operational decision-support systems.
• Technical oversight across all major processing areas, including crushing, grinding, flotation, concentrate and tailings dewatering, water treatment, paste/backfill systems, and associated process infrastructure.
• Leadership of technical studies, trade-off analyses, due diligence reviews, process engineering assessments, technology evaluations, and innovation initiatives supporting operational and strategic objectives.
• Cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Technical Services, Corporate teams, consultants, OEMs, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment between operational execution, asset strategy, and business priorities.
• Development and implementation of metallurgical standards, operating procedures, technical guidelines, risk-based processing strategies, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Strategic oversight of laboratory operations, QA/QC systems, sampling methodologies, analytical reliability, process analyser governance, and metallurgical data integrity.
• Leadership, mentoring, succession planning, talent development, and capability building for metallurgical professionals, graduate engineers, and broader processing teams.
• Participation in the development, governance, and review of operating and capital budgets, including capital prioritisation, investment evaluations, project justification, AFE preparation, and business case development.
• Technical leadership and decision-making support during major operational disruptions, equipment failures, process instability events, business continuity risks, and other critical operational situations.
• Representation of the metallurgical function in senior management, corporate, technical review, regulatory, audit, and external stakeholder forums.
• Promotion of a strong culture of safety, accountability, technical excellence, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and organisational performance throughout the processing operation.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Additional training in process engineering, data analysis, or project management is a plus.
• Postgraduate qualifications in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Engineering Management, or a related field.
• 10 years of progressive experience in metallurgical engineering and mineral processing operations, preferably within large-scale mining or processing environments.
• Proven experience leading metallurgical studies, laboratory and plant test work programs, and translating technical findings into sustainable operational improvements.
• Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring, and developing metallurgical engineers and senior metallurgists, with accountability for team performance and technical outcomes.
• Strong involvement in plant commissioning, ramp-up, stabilisation, debottlenecking, and process improvement initiatives.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and standard business software applications.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
• Valid driver's license.
