About this role

Join the SPP Architecture team at Zoox! We’re looking for a hands-on manager to support a team of engineers working on the next-generation Zoox platforms and products. You and your team will work with other engineering teams across Zoox to design complex systems and components, producing analysis, design, and architecture documents and requirements. In addition, you will be deeply involved in planning and scoping these high-impact projects, working with product teams, project managers, and engineering managers to drive them to completion.

In this role, you will:

  • You will manage a team of firmware, software and systems engineers delivering high-impact designs across multiple vehicle compute platforms.

  • Your team will work across the entire life cycle of the project, from initial project feasibility studies to product rollout and ongoing support.

  • You will work closely with our hardware and electrical engineering, power, vehicle systems integration, safety, firmware, production software, and autonomy teams.

  • You will also work with external automotive providers, tools, and library vendors to select appropriate solutions to meet our engineering needs.

  • You will represent the Software Platforms and Product organization on various internal technical and product boards.

  • Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years of engineering management experience.

  • Hands-on experience with firmware engineering, including design, bring-up, feature development, deployment and ongoing support.. Can work comfortably with hardware and electrical engineering teams, including design input, schematic review, and requirements development.

  • Automotive or safety-critical software/firmware development experience (e.g. ISO 26262), including participating in HARA and FMEA processes.

  • C and C++.

  • Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience designing complex engineering systems with functions across multiple ECUs, including networking and time sync considerations.
