About this role
At Aston Martin Formula One, every component matters. We're looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Driver Controls group within Mechanical Design and help develop innovative, high-performance solutions that contribute directly to the performance of our Formula One cars.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the design team, responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of a wide range of mechanical components and assemblies. You'll work closely with colleagues across engineering functions to deliver advanced solutions under demanding timescales.
Key Responsibilities
- Concept design through detailing of mechanical, hydraulic and composite components and assemblies.
- Produce high-quality engineering drawings to support the manufacture of components and assemblies.
- Support a variety of design projects through build, assembly, testing, and development phases.
- Identify and implement practical engineering solutions to challenges arising during testing and development.
- Contribute and promote the ongoing development and improvement of design concepts, fault analysis, processes, and methodologies.
- Contribute to design reviews at individual level through to whole engineering team level.
- Maintain a strong understanding of mechanical design principles and Formula One regulations.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring components are robust, lightweight, innovative and ready to meet the demands of elite motorsport.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, detail‑focused and ready to thrive in a fast‑paced environment. You should have:
- A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification supported by experience in motorsport or a related field.
- Experience producing detailed designs and drawings for complex mechanical assemblies.
- Strong CAD skills, ideally with Catia V6. Training will be provided for those converting from other CAD systems.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and deliver results to tight deadlines.
