What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a Mobile App Team Lead with strong hands-on mobile development experience and proven leadership capabilities to lead the delivery, release, and ongoing development of our mobile trading application across iOS and Android.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mobile application development, ideally within Fintech, Forex, Trading, Banking, or high-performance digital platforms. The person should have deep knowledge of either iOS development using Swift or Android development using Kotlin/Java, together with a strong understanding of both mobile ecosystems.
This role is critical for the successful launch and ongoing evolution of our mobile app. The Mobile App Team Lead will be responsible for managing the mobile development team, staying fully on top of all mobile-related activities, driving technical decisions, ensuring delivery timelines are met, and owning the release process for both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The role requires strong technical oversight, delivery ownership, and cross-functional collaboration with Product, UI/UX, Backend, QA, DevOps, Security, Compliance, and business stakeholders.
The person must be able to lead with minimal supervision, take ownership of the mobile application, break down work, assign tasks, remove blockers, challenge estimates, and ensure the team delivers high-quality mobile releases.
What You’ll Do:
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and guide the mobile development team across iOS and Android.
- Take ownership of the team’s day-to-day execution, delivery progress, technical output, and priorities.
- Ensure all team members have clear responsibilities, assigned tasks, and agreed delivery timelines.
- Break down mobile development work into clear technical tasks and assign them effectively across the team.
- Monitor progress closely and proactively identify risks, blockers, delays, and dependencies.
- Act as the first escalation point for mobile-related technical and delivery issues.
- Support onboarding, knowledge sharing, coaching, and continuous improvement of team members.
- Promote ownership, accountability, collaboration, and high engineering standards within the team.
Mobile Technical Leadership
- Provide technical direction across both iOS and Android mobile applications.
- Lead technical design sessions and ensure mobile solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure best practices, coding standards, and clean architecture principles are followed.
- Challenge technical decisions where needed and ensure the right implementation approach is selected.
- Support developers with complex technical issues and ensure proper solutions are implemented.
- Ensure technical decisions are documented and communicated clearly to Product, QA, Backend, DevOps, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure consistency between iOS and Android functionality, user experience, performance, and release quality.
Mobile App Development & Architecture
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the mobile application across iOS and Android.
- Ensure the iOS app follows modern Apple development standards using Swift and relevant Apple frameworks.
- Ensure the Android app follows modern Android development standards using Kotlin/Java, Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and related technologies.
- Define and enforce suitable mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVC, MVP, or Clean Architecture.
- Ensure proper integration with RESTful APIs, backend services, third-party SDKs, authentication flows, and mobile data layers.
- Work closely with backend teams to ensure APIs are reliable, performant, secure, and suitable for mobile use cases.
- Ensure the mobile app is built with scalability, maintainability, performance, and security in mind.
- Support platform-specific decisions related to iOS and Android capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
App Store & Google Play Ownership
- Own and manage the release process for the mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Coordinate app submissions, app updates, version management, release notes, screenshots, store assets, and required metadata.
- Ensure compliance with Apple App Store and Google Play Store policies, guidelines, privacy requirements, and review processes.
- Work with Product, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, and Security teams to ensure store content and app requirements are properly aligned.
- Monitor app review feedback, rejection reasons, approval status, and required remediation actions.
- Track mobile app ratings, reviews, crash reports, user feedback, and store performance.
- Drive continuous improvement based on app store feedback, analytics, production issues, and customer experience.
System Performance, Quality & Reliability
- Ensure the mobile application delivers a smooth, stable, secure, and high-performance user experience.
- Identify and resolve mobile performance bottlenecks, crashes, memory issues, responsiveness issues, and platform-specific bugs.
- Work closely with QA and QA Automation teams to support mobile testing, regression testing, integration testing, and release validation.
- Ensure proper test coverage, including unit testing, UI testing, integration testing, and automated testing where applicable.
- Support performance testing, production-readiness reviews, and release sign-off activities.
- Lead or support incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for mobile production issues.
- Ensure production issues are properly analyzed, documented, and followed up with preventive actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Owners and Product Managers to understand requirements, define scope, and agree delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with UI/UX Designers to deliver intuitive, user-friendly, and consistent mobile experiences.
- Work with Backend Engineers to ensure API readiness, integration quality, and performance.
- Partner with QA teams to ensure proper test planning, mobile regression coverage, and release validation.
- Work with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, build automation, environments, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with Security teams to ensure mobile security, authentication, secure storage, and data protection requirements are met.
- Work with Compliance, Legal, Marketing, and business stakeholders where mobile app store, regulatory, or customer communication requirements are involved.
Delivery & Project Ownership
- Drive sprint planning, task breakdown, estimation, and delivery tracking for the mobile team.
- Maintain clear communication with Product and management regarding delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers.
- Ensure mobile releases are planned, tested, approved, and delivered according to agreed timelines.
- Challenge unclear requirements, incomplete designs, missing dependencies, or unrealistic timelines where needed.
- Ensure technical documentation, implementation plans, release notes, and knowledge-sharing materials are maintained.
- Prioritize tasks effectively and lead the team toward achieving delivery milestones.
- Take ownership of mobile delivery outcomes, not only technical implementation.
Engineering Standards & Process Improvement
- Enforce mobile coding standards, code review processes, documentation, and technical governance.
- Improve mobile development processes, release processes, estimation accuracy, and delivery efficiency.
- Support the adoption of CI/CD, automation, mobile testing frameworks, monitoring tools, and productivity improvements.
- Encourage the use of AI-assisted development tools to improve speed, code quality, documentation, and testing.
- Identify recurring issues and propose practical improvements to increase quality, stability, and speed of delivery.
- Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of professional experience in mobile application development.
- Proven experience of 2+ years as a Mobile Team Lead, Technical Lead, or similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience in either iOS development using Swift or Android development using Kotlin/Java.
- Strong understanding of both iOS and Android ecosystems.
- Experience managing or leading mobile engineers across iOS and Android.
- Experience publishing and maintaining apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Strong understanding of App Store and Google Play release processes, review guidelines, versioning, and production release management.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, third-party SDKs, and backend service integrations.
- Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVC, MVP, or Clean Architecture.
- Experience with Git, version control, branching strategies, and code review processes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications.
- Strong understanding of mobile app UI/UX principles and platform-specific best practices.
- Experience with performance optimization, crash analysis, debugging, and production monitoring.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lead with ownership, accountability, and minimal supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Working Schedule:
Monday to Friday: 09:00 – 17:00 (Hybrid Model; 3 days from the office, 2 days from home)
