You’ll be part of a skilled and supportive engineering team responsible for the maintenance of a diverse modern fleet of PCVs, LCVs, plant, depot equipment, and associated systems. This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same.
We’re looking for a proactive, flexible engineer who is keen to develop across mechanical, electrical, bodywork, and wider engineering disciplines while delivering high standards of safety and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing
Maintenance & Fault Finding
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across buses, light commercial vehicles, plant, and depot equipment
• Diagnose faults using modern tools, test equipment, and technical information systems
• Complete high-quality repairs efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
• Undertake inspections, testing, and commissioning activities (where trained)
• Support roadside breakdowns and recovery operations when required
Engineering Standards
• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
• Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activity
• Ensure high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and vehicle presentation
• Work across mechanical, electrical, fabrication, bodywork, flooring, and interior systems
• Use ICT and maintenance systems accurately and effectively

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Recognised PCV/HGV engineering qualification with relevant experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Practical experience in vehicle, plant, depot, or engineering maintenance environment
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read technical drawings and instructions
- Good understanding of health & safety practices
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to train and develop new competencies
Desirable
- Electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic qualifications
- Experience with PCV/HGV fleet maintenance or heavy vehicles
- Forklift, MEWP, or plant equipment certification
- Experience mentoring or supporting apprentices
