Job Purpose
The Network and Application Security Manager will lead the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of network and application security across the organization’s infrastructure and client environments. Operating in a telecom and ISP context, this role is critical to maintaining the security posture of internal systems as well as Managed Security Services (MSS) provided to clients. The manager will oversee security design, configuration, threat detection, and client-facing operations, ensuring robust protection against emerging cyber threats while complying with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
1. Network Security Management: Responsible for designing and managing secure network architectures for both internal systems and client environments, utilizing tools such as firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Checkpoint), IDS/IPS, VPNs, and SD-WAN. Ensures continuous monitoring, threat response, and secure implementation of LAN/WAN/VLAN configurations.
2. Application Security Oversight: Ensure secure development and deployment of internal and client-facing applications by enforcing secure coding practices, conducting vulnerability assessments, code and design reviews, and managing Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and API security. Proactively address risks including those identified in the OWASP Top 10 across all managed platforms.
3. Managed Security Services Leadership: Oversee the delivery and enhancement of MSS offerings such as firewall management, intrusion detection and prevention, log monitoring with SIEM integration, security device configuration reviews, and incident response. Act as the main technical liaison for clients, ensuring effective and responsive security operations.
4. Governance, Risk, and Compliance Management: Ensure alignment with international standards (ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701) and local regulations (e.g., RURA, NCSA) by supporting risk assessments, audits, and the creation of risk treatment plans. Maintain comprehensive documentation of security controls, processes, and configurations for both internal and client environments.
5. Incident Response and Threat Management: Manage security monitoring tools (e.g., FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, SIEM) and lead the investigation and resolution of security incidents affecting internal systems or client environments. Coordinate forensic analysis, implement containment strategies, and oversee recovery efforts to minimize impact.
6. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Manage a team of security engineers/analysts supporting network and application security functions. Mentor staff and support the development of specialized security skill sets within the team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in network and application security, preferably in a telecom or ISP environment.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or client-facing security role.
- Strong hands-on experience with firewall technologies, WAFs, IDS/IPS, and SIEM tools.
- Experience with SD-WAN and managing security for multi-site deployments.
- Fortinet NSE 4–7, CISSP, CEH, CISM, or CCNP Security
- Vendor-specific security certifications (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco Security, Fortinet, etc.) is an added value
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, NAT, and network troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of secure application architecture, SAST/DAST, and threat modeling.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, especially in client-facing situations.
