Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Nursery Spray Technician to implement crop protection programmes within a large-scale nursery operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for safe and accurate pesticide application, maintaining spraying equipment, and supporting pest and disease control activities to protect crop health.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily and weekly crop protection spraying according to production schedules.
- Prepare and mix crop protection chemicals in line with label instructions and safety standards.
- Calibrate and operate spraying equipment to ensure effective and consistent application.
- Monitor spray coverage and identify any issues affecting treatment effectiveness.
- Maintain spraying equipment, including cleaning, servicing, and minor repairs.
- Manage chemical inventory, including safe storage, stock monitoring, and proper disposal of empty containers.
- Work closely with crop scouts and production teams to address pest and disease hotspots.
- Maintain accurate records of all spraying activities and compliance documentation.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and PPE requirements.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- At least 2 years’ experience in crop protection or chemical spraying.
- Knowledge of pesticide labels, chemical mixing, and sprayer calibration.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Advantageous
- Agricultural training or crop protection certification.
- Chemical applicator accreditation.
