PHP Developer

Overview

Our client is a Lisbon- and New York–based venture studio partnering with exceptional European talent to build companies that deliver real impact. They are currently seeking a Full-Stack Developer (Backend Focus) to take the reins on an AI-powered content creation tool for real estate professionals.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to work in a **small, fast-moving team **, ** own the codebase **, and ** build a product with proven demand **.

As a Full-Stack Developer (Backend Focus), you will play a key role in driving the next phase of growth for our client’s AI venture. You’ll be the first dedicated developer, responsible for the backend, database, and a clean, usable interface for real estate agents.

You will take over from the initial core developer and help shape the product end-to-end, supported by the venture studio’s team and resources.

Responsibilities

Core Product Development

• Own the product codebase across backend, database, and front-end interface.
• Ship features quickly while keeping architecture scalable and maintainable.

Backend & Integrations

• Develop in PHP (8.3), Symfony (6.4), and MySQL.
• Ensure smooth API integrations and reliable data flows.

Interface Design & UX

• Implement and refine the interface used by real estate agents.
• Translate customer feedback into clear, usable features.

Technical Leadership

• Take over from the previous core developer.
• Make key decisions on architecture, tooling, and DevOps.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work directly with the venture team and leadership.
• Bring a product mindset, balancing speed, stability, and user experience.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional development experience (mid-level).
• Strong background in **backend engineering **, with comfort across the ** full stack **.
• Motivation to build within a small, entrepreneurial team.
• Interest in clean, usable interfaces (design experience a plus).
• Curiosity, low ego, and eagerness to grow into technical leadership.
• Fluent English communication.
• Based in Lisbon, Portugal (hybrid: 4 days on-site).

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud/DevOps (AWS, Docker, CI/CD).
• Familiarity with AI/LLM integration.
• Previous exposure to startups or venture-backed environments.
