About this role

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and oversees all operations within the Foam Fabrication department, including management of Shift Production Leads. Key Responsibilities

  • Leads efforts and accountability for maintaining a safe, efficient, productive, and positive work environment.
  • Oversees daily foam production operations and coordinates with Plant Manager to ensure efficient delivery of production goals with focus on safety and continuous improvement.
  • Manages shift production leads to monitor on-time production schedule and delivery, work schedules, and labor utilization.
  • Works with shift production leads to develop production floor employees to ensure effective operations, continuous skill development and progression, and turnover management.
  • Monitors production costs, product quality, machine uptime, efficiency, and scrap metrics; recommends process improvements to optimize operations.
  • Partners with Plant Manager and maintenance department to develop and implement plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Manages and monitors production control including job orders, BOMs, scheduling, on-time delivery (OTD), capacity planning, quality, and maintenance requirements.
  • Conducts regular audits of manufacturing processes, product flow, and machine operations; maintains documentation and communication of operational status.
  • Manages raw material and component inventory locations, tracking, and physical inventory counts (monthly, quarterly, annual)..
  • Leads and enforces safety standards, participates in safety committee meetings, conducts safety training and shop talks, maintains monthly safety calendar.
  • Trains and mentors employees on tools and systems including Cyberquery, Syteline, SharePoint, and Microsoft programs.
  • Completes performance reviews for direct reports and addresses employee concerns and performance issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Manages Shift Production Leads while overseeing all operations within the Foam Fabrication department and its production employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include overseeing planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • High school diploma or GED required; prior manufacturing, production, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of foam materials, cutting tools, CNC equipment, die cutting, and other relevant foam fabrication machinery is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on approach with willingness to spend significant time on the production floor learning and supporting operations.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes, production flow, machine layout, work center tools, job orders, BOMs, work instructions, schedules, production metrics, and inventory information.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills in order to work effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, and cross-functional departments. Fluency in English, both written and oral, is required.
  • Must be able to conduct and participate in meetings and trainings, as needed
  • Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to use or learn Cyberquery, Syteline, SharePoint, Microsoft programs, and other company systems.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical production situations.
  • Ability to support a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
