About this role

Job Overview

The Production Technician will work independently in completing Surface Combustion manufacturing related assignments in minor fabrication, piping, mechanical assembly, and/or electrical wiring processes. They should be willing to assist other assemblers in specific tasks when assigned by the plant manager. They should be able to perform jobsite installations and/or repairs working as part of a field team or a work project leader.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional technical or vocational education strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with proven ability to operate a wide range of hand tools safely and effectively
  • Self-motivated professional capable of planning, organizing, and executing work independently through completion with minimal supervision
  • Accountable for delivering high-quality results, exercising sound judgment up to final review and decision-making stages
  • Ability to lead, guide, and direct team members in the fabrication and assembly of products using blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions
  • Strong leadership presence with the capability to coordinate workflow and ensure operational efficiency
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trainer within your trade or discipline, supporting skill development and knowledge transfer across the team

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Master the use of hand and power tools
  • Work may require extensive periods of standing, bending, stretching, lifting, and reaching.
  • Be proficient in welding processes necessary for SCI manufacturing; read electrical prints & layouts, read piping prints (two-lined & isometric); read mechanical prints; read and understand suppliers’ instructions
  • Employees use initiative in conducting recurring assignments to fabricate and assemble products by using drawings, sketches, and verbal direction
  • Must be proficient in some forms of process and tack welding; basic electrical skills including layout and mount conduit and pull & terminate wire; layout, cut & thread, and mount piping systems; set and align motors, pumps, other mechanical components etc.; layout, set, level & align furnace drive systems.
  • Employees will be required to use overhead cranes and fork trucks to set up and/or move equipment. Will assist in loading and unloading equipment
  • Perform jobsite installations as part of a field team and as a team leader
  • Assist in the training of less skilled or less experienced mechanics as directed by plant management
  • Perform other duties and functions as required.
