Internal Opportunity: Program Coordinator – Penny Lane Transition House

BGC Okanagan is seeking a Program Coordinator to support Penny Lane, a short-term, low-barrier stabilization home serving youth facing significant challenges, including homelessness, family conflict, mental health concerns, substance use, and other high-risk circumstances.

Our trauma-informed, caring environment helps youth feel safe, supported, and hopeful about the future. In this role, you will:

  • Build meaningful, trusting relationships with youth and support them through individualized, strength-based plans.
  • Work with youth who may be experiencing complex barriers and high-risk situations, helping them develop resilience, life skills, and connections to community supports.
  • Create a warm, home-like environment that fosters safety, stability, belonging, and healthy routines.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team committed to empathy, respect, accountability, and second chances.

This is a temporary position for up to three months or until the incumbent returns, whichever occurs first.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs in collaboration with the supervisor.
  • Oversee daily program operations, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and licensing requirements.
  • Supervise, schedule, train, and support program staff, volunteers, and practicum students.
  • Participate in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Manage program budgets, expenditures, financial records, and reporting.
  • Build community awareness through promotion, partnerships, and public engagement.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and professionals to coordinate services and referrals.
  • Maintain accurate records, statistics, and reports to support program accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in a related human/social service field
  • Minimum of three (3) years recent related experience, including one (1) year supervisory or administrative experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $33.77 per hour
