ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Program Manager to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Responsibilities.

  • Provide leadership and overall management of assigned technical and/or operational programs and portfolios.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between customers, researchers, and project teams to define work scope, schedules, funding requirements, and program objectives.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support ongoing programs and identify new opportunities.

  • Manage complex, multi-year programs that evolve to meet changing customer needs and organizational priorities.

  • Define program scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, deliverables, and performance milestones.

  • Develop and maintain cost, scope, and schedule baselines while monitoring program performance.

  • Track and report cost and schedule variances and implement corrective actions when necessary.

  • Lead change management and risk management activities to ensure successful program execution.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and operational standards.

  • Collaborate with personnel at all organizational levels to build trust, achieve consensus, and resolve conflicts.

  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and program updates to stakeholders, leadership, and customers.

  • Identify opportunities to expand program capabilities and support evolving organizational missions and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

  • Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in all aspects of program management for technical or operational programs.

  • Proven experience defining program scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, deliverables, and performance milestones.

  • Experience developing and managing cost, scope, and schedule baselines.

  • Experience monitoring program performance, reporting variances, and implementing corrective actions.

  • Demonstrated expertise in change management and risk management processes.

  • Advanced knowledge of the technical and/or operational discipline associated with the assigned portfolio.

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, policies, and standards related to program execution.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external customer relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.

  • Strong skills in building trust, facilitating collaboration, achieving consensus, and resolving conflicts.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and evolving environment.

About the Site

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
