Kwame Building Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in K-12 school construction and be passionate about delivering high-quality educational facilities on time and within budget. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution from preconstruction through project closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of K-12 school construction projects.
- Manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project correspondence.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, owners, and subcontractors.
- Monitor project schedules and assist in maintaining project milestones.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Track project costs and support budget management efforts.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with project meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes.
- Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, warranties, as-built documentation, and final turnover.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction experience.
- Demonstrated experience working on K-12 school construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and project management principles.
- Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification.
- Experience with public sector or municipal construction projects.
- Knowledge of state and local building codes and educational facility requirements.
