Research Associate

IITA is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development (R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a board of trustees, and a member of the CGIAR consortium. Our R4D approach is anchored on the development needs of tropical nations, we work with partners to enhance crop quality and productivity, reduce producer and consumer risks and generate wealth from agriculture.

The international institute of tropical agriculture seeks suitable candidates for this position at the institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

(2 years renewable contract)

Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain field experiments

Supervise field and laboratory staff

Calibrate sprayers for herbicide application

Be conversant with herbicide calculation and application

Undertake data management and analysis, and contribute to reporting of research output support project staff to meet reporting and monitoring and evaluation requirements of the project activities

Support the training of students and visiting trainees

Qualifications

Qualifications:

M.sc in plant science/agronomy/crop Science or a related discipline

Possess excellent interpersonal skills

Have good communication skills

Posses good computer skills and able to use statistical analysis systems such as SAS, genstate and excel.

Posses a valid driver’s license.
