Position Purpose
The Resident Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and administration of construction works under the project. The role supports the Project Manager / Supervision Team Leader in ensuring that all works are delivered in compliance with contract requirements, approved designs, technical specifications, relevant standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise construction activities and monitor contractor performance on site.
• Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
• Review and approve contractor submissions, including work programmes, method statements, materials, and shop drawings.
• Monitor construction progress and proactively identify delays, risks, and implementation issues.
• Verify quantities, site measurements, and contractor payment applications.
• Support the evaluation and assessment of claims, variations, and extension of time requests.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health & safety (OHS) standards and environmental and social safeguards.
• Coordinate with contractors, airport operators, government authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate site records and prepare progress and technical reports.
• Support testing, commissioning, defect rectification, and project close-out activities.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Airport Engineering, or related discipline
Experience:
Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction supervision of infrastructure projects
Proven experience administering contracts under FIDIC Conditions of Contract
Experience in major infrastructure sectors (airport, aviation, transport, roads, buildings, etc.)
Experience on World Bank, ADB, or internationally funded projects is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
Strong construction supervision and contract administration skills
Solid knowledge of engineering standards and project delivery processes
Effective communication and reporting skills
Stakeholder coordination and management capability
Problem-solving and risk identification ability
Proficiency in written and spoken English
