Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity is seeking a friendly, dependable Sales Associate to help create an outstanding shopping experience in our Tacoma Habitat Store. Every purchase and donation supports Habitat's mission of providing affordable homeownership opportunities throughout Pierce County.
In this role, you'll assist customers and donors, support daily store operations, help process donations, and work alongside a team that values service, teamwork, and community impact. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Driver in efficient pick-up schedules and routes for the Store Truck(s)
- Interacting positively with donors and customers
- Assisting with the retail operation, including operating the cash registers and making sales
- Providing superior customer service to donors and customers
- Adhering to All Store policies and procedures
- Load and unload donation trucks
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Retail sales or customer service experience preferred
- Retail experience with construction or building materials/hardware preferred
- Routing/scheduling and/or logistics experience preferred
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of fair market value of new and used materials
- Superior customer service, experience with diverse populations
- Able and willing to lift up to 50 pounds, performing heavy manual tasks, work standing or walking for long periods of time and be capable of performing outside duties under all weather conditions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Bilingual Preferred but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- This position requires regular standing and walking throughout the workday, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, lifting, and moving donated merchandise and furniture. Employees must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders occasionally, and work outdoors during donation pickups in a variety of weather conditions.
