The School Culture Coordinator plays a critical role in shaping a joyful, safe, and developmentally supportive environment for our Pre-K to 6th-grade students. This team member supports teachers, students, and families to maintain high expectations with warmth and consistency. Through proactive coaching, behavior support, and SEL integration, the Coordinator ensures that students build the skills and habits needed to thrive in school and beyond. The School Culture Coordinator responds to behavioral incidents, leads students through the Reset Room protocol, models Responsive Classroom practices, facilitates family partnerships, and reinforces values-based routines that align to Atlas’s vision of a whole-child education.

Key Responsibilities

Behavior Systems & Student Support

  • Respond to behavior escalations and provide in-the-moment student support in classrooms and common areas.
  • Facilitate Reset Room protocol, re-entry plans, and behavior reflections following incidents.
  • Implement logical consequences that support accountability and repair.
  • Track behavior incidents and contribute to data review cycles to identify students needing Tier 2 or Tier 3 support.
  • Support the CARE Team in developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior trackers and individual behavior plans.
  • Lead small group instruction focused on behavior skills, social problem-solving, and emotional regulation.

School Culture & Student Engagement

  • Support school-wide and grade-level engagement events (assemblies, themed days, monthly celebrations).
  • Reinforce routines and school traditions that center student voice, identity, and success.
  • Model and celebrate positive behavior and kindness across classrooms and transitions.
  • Promote consistency in shared spaces (hallways, restrooms, arrival/dismissal) through modeling and feedback.

SEL & Tier 1 Systems

  • Support Responsive Classroom implementation in classrooms, including Morning Meeting, Take a Break, and Closing Circle.
  • Support teachers and assistants to use calm-down spaces, buddy classrooms, and reflection tools.
  • Integrate SEL focus areas into classroom check-ins, closing circles, and behavioral debriefs.
  • Ensure clarity and consistency of behavior expectations across shared spaces and routines.

Staff Coaching & Support

  • Collaborate with teachers and assistants to build positive classroom culture and tone.
  • Offer just-in-time coaching and debriefs related to student behavior and SEL.
  • Support classroom setup and transitions to promote proactive behavior management.
  • Support with professional learning opportunities related to school culture, social-emotional learning, and behavior.

Family Communication & Partnership

  • Maintain regular communication with families about student growth, behavior, and celebrations.
  • Lead family meetings and co-develop strategies to support students at school and at home.
  • Work closely with the CARE team to ensure a unified and consistent message around behavior support and expectations.

Culture Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Culture Team to ensure aligned practices across Pre-K to 6.
  • Participate in weekly Culture Team meetings, data reviews, and walkthroughs.
  • Model Atlas values and mission in all family, student, and staff interactions.
