Accountabilities:

The Senior Data Engineer will own the architecture, implementation, and evolution of large-scale data systems supporting observability, analytics, and identity intelligence capabilities. This role requires strong technical leadership, a focus on reliability, and the ability to drive complex initiatives across multiple teams.

  • Lead the design and development of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data services for enterprise-grade data platforms.
  • Own technical strategy for key data domains, aligning architecture decisions and long-term roadmaps with partner teams.
  • Serve as a technical lead for cross-functional initiatives, ensuring successful delivery of high-impact engineering projects.
  • Establish and maintain standards for data quality, governance, lineage, observability, and operational readiness.
  • Optimize distributed data processing workloads, storage strategies, and query performance to improve scalability and cost efficiency.
  • Design and improve graph-oriented data models and access patterns to support fast exploration of complex relationships.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver low-latency user experiences powered by reliable data infrastructure.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, provide technical guidance, and raise engineering standards through mentorship and feedback.
  • Apply AI-assisted development practices to accelerate engineering workflows while maintaining security, quality, and governance standards.
  • Partner with infrastructure, security, analytics, and product teams to develop practical and scalable solutions.
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities and lead incident reviews to strengthen platform resilience.
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate is a highly experienced data engineering professional with a strong background in SaaS-scale platforms, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures. Candidates should demonstrate technical leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver complex solutions in regulated environments.

    • 5+ years of experience building production software, with significant experience in data engineering at SaaS scale.
    • 4+ years of experience owning architecture for commercial data platforms or major data subsystems.
    • U.S. citizenship required due to FedRAMP-related responsibilities.
    • Expert knowledge of Snowflake data modeling, architecture, and query optimization.
    • Strong hands-on experience with dbt, Airflow, and distributed processing systems supporting batch and streaming workloads.
    • Experience with Cassandra and familiarity with graph-based data systems.
    • Proven experience building reliable systems capable of managing billions of relationships with predictable performance.
    • Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
    • Experience leading complex technical projects across multiple teams and organizational boundaries.
    • Professional experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code within engineering workflows.
    • Ability to improve engineering processes through better planning, execution, reliability practices, and technical standards.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to engineers, product leaders, and executives.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Preferred qualifications:

      • Experience operating data platforms with service-level objectives and modern observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog.
      • Experience measuring and improving data job performance, quality, and infrastructure costs.
      • Familiarity with identity management, security, compliance, or privacy-sensitive technology domains.
      • Experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and continuous delivery practices.
      • Knowledge of data lake architectures and Spark/Flink performance optimization.
