Software Engineer, Product (Full-Stack)
AI Summary
Full-stack software engineer building AI-native spreadsheet tools, owning features end-to-end across React frontend, NestJS backend, and Postgres. Collaborates with finance professionals to translate workflows into AI-powered product features.
About this role
What We Do
Spreadsheets run the global financial system, but their platform hasn’t fundamentally changed in 30 years. At Meridian, we’re rebuilding the foundation of financial modeling.
Our integrated agent understands financial models at a structural level: how they’re built, how they evolve, and how financial analysts actually work under pressure. It’s not just formula generation. The copilot reasons through models, iterates alongside users, and dramatically accelerates the workflows that drive financial modeling.
We are backed by top-tier investors, including a16z, and raised $17 million in seed funding at a $100 million valuation. We’re still early, though. Joining now is a chance to have real impact and gain real upside.
What You'll Do
Own and ship features end-to-end across the stack (React frontend, NestJS backend, Postgres database) for the Meridian desktop app and app plugins
Shape the platform abstraction layer that lets our product run across multiple spreadsheet surfaces — designing API contracts and solving hard portability problems
Build AI-native spreadsheet tools — this isn't AI bolted onto a product; the AI agent is the core experience, and you'll design how it reads, writes, formats, and reasons about spreadsheets
Work directly with finance professionals to understand real analyst workflows and translate them into AI-powered product features
Who You Are
You have strong full-stack experience with TypeScript and React
You write clean, well-tested code — unit tests and end-to-end tests are a natural part of how you work
You are experienced with applied AI — writing evals, building agents, prompt engineering, or similar
You have worked at a startup and thrive with autonomy — you own your projects, maintain your own roadmap, and come to planning with scoped work
Bonus
You are familiar with spreadsheet engines or Office.js add-in development
You have built for Electron or mobile, and understand main/renderer process architecture
You are familiar with monorepo tooling (Nx, npm workspaces) and shared package patterns
You have contributed to or built design systems and shared component libraries
You have a finance or fintech background — you understand how analysts actually use Excel, not just in theory
