AI Summary

Software Engineering Manager leads an 8-person engineering team, mentors engineers, and shapes the technical direction and delivery across multiple product areas while staying hands-on with critical code and architecture decisions.

About this role

Sanction Scanner — 3x Deloitte Fast 50 Winner — is an AI-powered RegTech company helping 800+ financial institutions worldwide with sanctions screening and AML compliance. We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead our 8-person engineering team and shape both the people and the platform behind it. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll have a direct impact on product strategy, engineering culture, and how we ship.

We move fast, we ship often, and we don't wait for perfect — we iterate toward it. If you're an engineering leader who still loves being close to the code, cares deeply about your team's growth, and thrives in a high-ownership environment where speed and quality go hand in hand, keep reading.

🌟 Why You'll Love Working with Us

  • Real Impact: Your decisions will directly shape a platform used by 800+ customers in financial compliance — a space where software quality truly matters.
  • People + Platform Ownership: Lead an 8-person team, shape their careers, and own the technical direction of the product alongside them.
  • Direct Line to Strategy: Report to the CEO and influence both product roadmap and technical direction.
  • Fast-Paced & Hustle-Driven: We value builders who take initiative, move fast, and get things done. No bureaucracy, no waiting around — just impact.
  • Stay Close to the Code: This isn't a pure management role. You'll still review architecture, contribute to critical parts of the codebase, and keep your engineering instincts sharp.
  • Growth-Oriented Culture: Join a team that values continuous learning, clean engineering practices, and innovation.

📋 What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the team. Manage, mentor, and grow an 8-person engineering team across multiple product areas. Run 1:1s, support career development, and create an environment where strong engineers do their best work.
  • Own delivery. Ensure the team ships predictably and with quality — healthy sprints, clear priorities, unblocked engineers, and steady release cadence.
  • Guide the architecture. Work with senior engineers to make architectural decisions that keep our platform scalable, reliable, and maintainable as we grow.
  • Stay hands-on where it matters. Review PRs, contribute to critical or complex parts of the codebase, and weigh in on technical design — enough to stay credible and keep your judgment sharp.
  • Raise the engineering bar. Define and enforce engineering standards — code reviews, CI/CD, testing, branch and deployment rules, documentation.
  • Partner with product and business. Translate product goals into clear technical roadmaps and push back constructively when trade-offs matter.
  • Own hiring. Drive recruiting for the engineering team — sourcing, interviewing, and closing strong candidates as we scale.
  • Set the pace. Drive urgency, unblock the team fast, and keep momentum high across sprints and releases.
  • Build engineering culture. Shape how we work — rituals, processes, and the way engineers grow and collaborate here.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years managing engineers directly.
  • Strong technical background in .NET / C# and modern backend systems — you've designed, built, and operated production systems at scale.
  • A track record of shipping quality software in a fast-moving, product-driven environment.
  • Experience building and scaling engineering teams — hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers.
  • Strong judgment on when to dive into code and when to step back and lead through others.
  • Clear communicator who can work closely with product, business, and executive stakeholders.
  • Bonus: experience in RegTech, FinTech, or any domain where reliability and compliance are non-negotiable.

Benefits

💎 What We Offer

  • Competitive Compensation — Net salary with additional fringe benefits, reviewed regularly as you grow with us.
  • Meal Allowance — A proper meal card that actually covers a decent, nutritious lunch — not just a symbolic top-up.
  • Comprehensive Health Benefits — Private health insurance so you're covered when it matters.
  • Learning Budget — Annual budget for books, courses, conferences, and certifications. Learning never stops here.
  • Software & Tooling Support — Any software subscription you need to do your best work — we'll cover it.
  • Appreciation & Reward Culture — Your impact on Sanction Scanner's growth won't go unnoticed. We recognize and reward the people who move the company forward.
  • No Dress Code — Dress however you're most comfortable. We care about your work, not your wardrobe.
  • International Work Environment — Collaborate with a caring, high-energy team working across multiple markets.
  • Dream Team — Join talented, ambitious people who push each other to get better every day.
  • Shape the Future — Be part of building a category-defining RegTech company from the ground up.
