In pursuit of this mission we are looking to hire Substitute Van Drivers for our F.O.R.T Program. FORT drivers pick up and deliver students in a district-owned van to various sites as requested, including to or from school to shelters, hotels, and other temporary nighttime locations to ensure educational stability and continuity.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and be at least 21 years old
  • Must pass physical exam and drug/alcohol tests, and undergo reference and security checks
  • Possess experience in transporting individuals through public or private service, such as bus driver, law enforcement, EMS or another similar role
  • Ability to work a variable, on-call schedule and work effectively with PreK – high school age student van riders experiencing homelessness
  • Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors, driving in all weather conditions
  • Ability to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents from culturally diverse backgrounds and varied socio-economic levels
  • Maintain a good appearance and work attitude
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills as well as punctuality
  • Physical ability to perform assigned tasks
  • Exhibit willingness to assist and cooperate with the supervisor, coordinator, co-workers and other staff
  • Job Responsibilities

  • Pick up and deliver students in a district-owned van to various sites as requested, including to or from school to shelters, hotels, and other temporary nighttime locations
  • Maintain the van and report all necessary repairs or damage
  • Keep work areas clean and safe
  • Follow all district, program, local and state guidelines
